I've tried about half the muffin recipes in this book, and they've all been good to very good. The lemon poppy-seed alone is worth the price of the book, but you'll find the cranberry-orange, dried fig, cinnamon-crunch sweet potato and bacon Gruyere muffins, and in the bread section, the pumpkin bread with dates, are all a cut about average. I've some other muffin cookbooks, but this one is by far my favorite because there is nothing wimpy about these muffins, both the sweet and the savory are flavorful and tasty. Other books I've got seem afraid to make their muffins really taste like something; the W-S people don't have that problem.
Like nearly all Williams-Sonoma books, this one looks to have some terrific recipes but there are only 25 from which to choose and I have a sneaky suspicion that I won't be making the Spinach Muffins. Had I not already owned well over 100 cookbooks, I might have been more delighted that W-S included 15 cake and bread recipes but, in the end, there are NOT a lot of recipes. The ones I will consider Do Look Delicious!Had I been buying in a bookdstore, I'd have taken a pass on this one but it would be a lovely gift.
Beautiful and well thought out layout and compilation of recipes.I've used the blueberry muffin recipe multiple times now with different types of berries and add-ins and it's perfect every time. The goal is to bake my way through the book but the first recipe I tried has worked out so well and is so versatile that it's deterred me a bit from trying the rest.
I am so happy I found this book! I love muffins and have been looking for a good muffin recipe book. I make them all the time with my 3 year old. This book will not dissapoint!
Have used this book for years and just replaced it as the other is tattered from use and notes. Not a bad recipein the book. I either make muffins or loaf bread the recipes make the amounts so you can choose either. Delish!
I bought this book to make muffin tops. I've only tried the blueberry muffins so far, and they came out wonderfully! They were tender and moist, and certainly the muffin top is the best part of the muffin. The pictures are lovely and the directions very straightforward. I can't wait to make more. FYI, I made them in the Fat Daddio muffin top tins. Just delicious!
A lot of these recipes are not as healthy as they could be, but that's easily remedied. This book introduced me to a few new cooking techniques, such as lemon sugar.
This is the best Book on Muffins you can buy. The instructions are very clear, easy to read and understand. There are helpful tips on the ingredients throughout the book and there is a picture for every recipe! I love that. The recipes range from your basic blueberry to a fun Mediterranian style pesto muffin. All GOOD! We have really enjoyed this book and have spent many happy hours baking in the kitchen with it.
