Not impressed, no real great stories or secret info about celebs. Not bad if you have nothing else to read. Very quick and light, maybe a few chuckles.

First, let me be clear: I'm a fan of Kathy Griffin. Her silly stunt with Donald Trump didn't bother me. Her Bravo stand up specials make me laugh out loud. Yet, when I saw her in Houston two years ago, she wasn't funny. And this book isn't funny.She goes to great lengths in this book to show how much celebrities like her and how comfortable she is around them. She name drops events she's attended and covers she's appeared on; she mentions which A list stars (Alec Baldwin, Pitbull) have told her she's hot or funny; she even talks about how big her house is. I don't know if any of that is true (and if it's not, that makes the stories particularly sad), but either way, she's killed her joke.Kathy's whole schtick is that she's a Hollywood outsider, punching up. Her series was called "My Life on the D List", for pete's sake! But by telling stories to prove that A-listers know who she is, want to talk to her, and care when she makes fun of them, that schtick is ruined. She spent an entire career trying to show that she is NOT part of that world -- and this entire book, doing the opposite. And it's not funny at all.

Not very interesting. Expected more from Griffin . Some what repetitive.

After loving her first book, I made mistake of buying this latest book. It was terrible, not least bit funny and waste of money. I'm an avid reader and this ranks among the worst books I've ever tried to read.

Meh. Fair to middling.... The stories just are not that funny or interesting and Ms.Griffin comes off as someone attempting to pump up herself at someone else expense. Should have past on it.

If you are looking for one excellent way to waste your time, this is it. Kathy's 'celebrities' are then 10 minutes of fame variety. Her comments are mostly vapid and 'cute' (NO, that is NOT a compliment). There are those moments when all I can think of is "This is totally pathetic". Go ahead! Bore yourself to death.

I've never been so disappointed in a book, I really thought it would be as funny or funnier than Kathy in person, boring boring boring

I read her last book and enjoyed it thoroughly. I didn’t like this one at all. The format was annoying and every story seemed to be about Kathy acting like an obnoxious child and how charming that behavior is. Turns out it’s not.

Engaging with a suspenseful stalker story-line, and a rewarding and delightful story of love. This is the sequel to a must read novella, How Not To Wait. That story occurred ten years ago and was a night of passion between these two MC's. However, tragedy grief and a debt of gratitude and honor kept them apart as lovers.This is such a well told story with the writing just flowing beautifully. I was engaged from page one and read it in one sitting. My heart hurt for these two men who lost so much time, but was so thankful that they found their way to each other. I loved how Nicky and Shaw really learned to communicate and how honest they were, once they really started talking. These guys will definitely steam up your kindle with some of their communication!I was surprised at the identity of the stalker and thought the pacing was well done. I loved seeing the MC's from the previous books making appearances and adding support to our guys finding their way to love.This is the fourth in the Lovestrong series and i am so glad that it will have more stories. I am looking forward to seeing Rick find his happiness.

I've read all the books in this series and enjoyed them. There is a 14 year difference between the main characters and Saint can't get past that fact in his head. Shaw is about to give up on his love for Saint when a stalker starts to pursue him. This was an engaging read and I loved how the departed parents were able to chime in with glimpses of the future. However, I must say that I hope Rick gets someone to love - read the book to find out about him! It's a great read.

Having first met Nick and Shaw in the short story How Not to Wait. So glad to see them get their HEA. I was grabbed from the start. Not always a fan of stalker stories, I love how this one brought our guys together. I also loved the Dreamscape and forgiveness. I've loved every book in the Lovestruck series and can't wait for Ranger Rick's turn

OMG. And all the baby jesus's. Aside from the creepy stalker this book was so hot. Seriously I think Honey Combover caught her knickers on fire. Swoon. Susan is a queen. Thank you for Nick and Shaw to finally have their story.

A little angst, a little suspense, and paired with witty banter, this book is not to be missed. I enjoyed these main characters and felt a great connection between them. I found the plot to be a nice bit of cozy suspense.

I enjoyed the Love Strong series very much. I am hoping that there will be more in this series to enjoy.

I had waited on baited breath for this pair! It was even better than I had imagined it would. It’s a must read!

Nick and Shaw are longtime friends, as in Nick has been friends with Shaws family and has known Shaw since he was a toddler. Oh yeah, and Nick is the oldest, by a decade.That age difference hasn't kept Shaw from lusting after Nick for about half his life. Nor did it stop him from seducing Nick one snowy night while they were trapped in a cabin without electricity.That didn't work out or this book wouldn't have been written. Oh, but the story that was needed to get to their HEA.If the resolution needed to fix their problem could be simplified into one sentence it would be the advice from Nick's friend who told him to get his head out of his butt.The stalker, whose threats occupied much of the story kept me guessing about who he was until the moment his identity was revealed. Had it not been for all the attention those threats brought to Shaw Nick and police officer Rick might have never come to the conclusion they did about their feelings for Shaw. Yep, there's another guy in the picture, ex boyfriend Rick.This is the first book in this series I've read although there are several available. I'm not too interested in reading the others because I didn't like the other characters much except for Rick.I Voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

A great, one of a kind resource. As far as I know, the it is the only full treatment of literary maximalism.

I wanted to enjoy Stefano Ercolino’s The Maximalist Novel: From Gravity’s Rainbow to Roberto Bolano’s 2666 more than what I eventually did. Maybe the long title should’ve given me pause. I have read a couple of the seven novels Ercolino focuses on(a slender selection, to be sure), so I’d hoped a little analysis on their similarities might be an enjoyable take in. I’m gonna have to admit, the subject quickly bored me. Or perhaps the author’s delivery might have had something to do with that. But i guess I’ll let him speak for himself:“The literary object I aim to define in this study is the maximalist novel. It is an aesthetically hybrid genre of the contemporary novel that develops in the second half of the twentieth century in the United States, then “emigrates” to Europe and Latin America at the threshold of the twenty-first. “Maximalist,” for the multiform maximizing and hypertrophic tension of the narrative; “novel,” because the texts I will discuss are indeed novels. The aim of this study is to stake out a new conceptual territory that will contribute to a reconfiguration of the traditional view of the postmodern as well as a rethinking of the development of the novel in the second half of the twentieth century.”That’s paragraph number one. If that opener doesn’t tickle you fancy, I’m afraid this won’t be your kind of book, as there’s nothing but more and much worse ahead. I did finish this, but it was a bit of a slog. The under two hundred pages of text felt like twice that number. One can’t argue, however, that the author doesn’t take his subject seriously. Ercolino identifies ten necessary components for a Maximalist Novel. Are you ready for ‘em?1)Length2)Encyclopedic mode3)Dissonant chorality4)Diegetic exuberance 5)Completeness6)Narratorial omniscience 7)Paranoid imagination 8)Intersemioticity9)Ethical commitment10)Hybrid realismGot ‘em? Good. Maybe you can explain diegetic to me sometime. If you do, I’ll agree that we can both ignore Intersemioticity as if we already knew what the fell it was. Or cared...The author spends the remainder of the book unpacking each essential component of a Maximalist Novel with references drawn from White Teeth, The Corrections(?), Underworld, Gravity’s Rainbow, Infinite Jest, 2066, and some Italian novel I’d never heard of before this book. Ercolino makes use of some lit theoreticians who have gone before him. He also distinguishes his subject from precursors, like the more traditional Epic, as well as more nouveau produits like the Mega Novel. Ercolino asserts the common sensical: the goal of the Maximalist Novel is to chart the world, even in all its diversity and dissonance. How does one do that? One inch equals one page, eh? Not exactly. The encyclopedic aspires to capture all matter; the Maximalist also includes the disturbing openness of anti-matter, fragmentation, and the dissipating. Ercolino can also be interesting, such as his rather extensive listing of themes from his all chosen Maximalist novels. The reoccurrence of technology (hardly a surprise)was close to having a ubiquitous presence—though it is excluded from 2066, according to the author—bordering on obligatory in all the examined works, but the inclusion of drugs as a blanket theme across the board certainly supplements the atmosphere of paranoia which does pervade the Maximalist storyline as a rule. To make the reader’s struggle just a little more unpleasant, the Kindle edition of The Maximalist Novel doesn’t link notes to text—though it appears like it does. When this is factored in I consider three stars generous on my part. Ercolino mostly makes his case, though. It’s just that by the time you get to his closing arguments you may have quite a maximalist headache.

"The Miracle Club" is a fantastic work, I would say it is Mitch Horowitz’s best book so far, and I’ve read the majority of his book, and "The Miracle Club" is one of the best books I’ve read in the last decade. In it Horowitz addresses one of the largest failings of the New Age, New Thought, Self-Help, and Human Potential Movement books to be written in recent years, most importantly, the failure of such teachers to encourage their students to look at ethics.I’ve been heavily involved in the New Age and Holistic movement for over a decade now, and have found that there is a serious lack of ethics and moral understanding in much of the modern teachings that are being sold to students. In particular this is very noticeable in the Law of Attraction (LoA) and New Thought movements, as Horowitz points out The Science of Getting Rich, which was used to create The Secret, was a tritest by a socialistic minister on how to use positive thinking to even out the power balance between the Owners and the Works, and now has been used to create a weak and watered down understanding of how to use positive thinking to get worldly goods, without looking at the other aspects of how New Thought/LoA can be used to better the world, along with oneself.This is not to say that Horowitz doesn’t give insight into how to use Positive Metaphysics to gain material goods, however, what Horowitz focuses on is how to dig deep into yourself and make sure what you believe you want is what you want, and then how to go about using Positive Metaphysics, a concrete directed aim, and the knowledge that you may have to apply “real life” skills to help bring about the changes in your life; it’s not just about positive thinking.Horowitz not only stands on the shoulders of giants in the making of this book, but he reaches far above them. He has taken teachings and concepts that are often consider passé or outdated and turned them from dross into gold for new generations of spiritual seekers, giving guideposts and trailer makers for fellow travelers, and more importantly, hope for those who are trying to find ways to live a spiritual life, and yet make change in the world.

This is the first book I have read of the authors, I came to know him from an interview on inspire nation, so I was excited to read this book, I pre ordered it on my kindle and audible, this book is very deep and thought provoking, with mitch being a very well know historian on new thought, esoterics and the like he delves deep into those aspects. I learned a lot from this book he talks a lot about the new thought leaders of the past and with Neville goodard being one of my favorites I got to learn a lot about him and his past. I really enjoyed this book its not your typical woo woo type book but gets to the history of the new thought era and positive thinking. It gave me a lot of new insights. Like Mitch quotes be your own experiment thats the only way you will know and that is point on.

Mitch's work is intelligent, exciting, and thorough. I have spent the last few hours going over his latest offering and it's densely packed with every relevant topic and how to put those topics clearly in motion!

I first heard about this book On Whitley Strieber's Dreamland. It's one of the best of its kind I've ever read. Horowitz lays out his beliefs, techniques, and philosophy is such a clear, straightforward way that I was riveted throughout. What's particularly interesting is that as a former editor, he used to buy New Age - New Thought - books like this. But The Miracle Club is unique.Horowitz provides historical backdrops for the idea that our imaginations and emotions create our experiences. I found the material on Neville Goddard fascinating and was intrigued by the author's inclusion of personal anecdotes about how Goddard's simple techniques have worked for him. Now I'm off to buy Horowitz's other books. This one really deserves 10 stars!

I've been a fan of Mitch and his work for years now. His excellence in telling history knows no bounds. His entry into working with your own thoughts is up to the challenge too. Your thoughts are causative. Yes. The methods described have cousins in many schools of thought and the occult. Those are the places people searched for real methods to gain real results. Mitch brings them here. The directions of achieving proper mental state and what to do with it are worth your price of admission. I found myself highlighting many paragraphs for further investigation. But the book. Read it. Next, Try it!

Faaaantastic.I had to skim through most of it after getting through half of it, but that's because I received what I needed to after many, many hours of this study. Mitch says a LOT, interwoven with stories, humor, and a ton of study and experience.And yet, he remains humble and doesn't say quite a bit of what he has personally experienced to keep the book as objective as can be.I'd like to hear the stories he isn't telling!And since I think my account is definitely not linked to the one I use or even look at, i place my contact belowww.
