I titled my review this because the box set is completely awesome, and it's at least $60 cheaper than the other sites I browsed (at the time of release). It's certainly cheaper than buying all 27 volumes individually!What you get, and comments about each:(If I seem to nitpick, then sorry, but I like to be extremely specific and thorough, letting you know precisely what I received.)I. All 27 Volumes of the Fullmetal Alchemist Manga in Paperback--1. These aren't new editions or anything, they're the same versions you can already purchase individually from VizMedia, but all in one set for one heck of a price! The set also includes Volume 27, which has yet to be relased by itself. (UPDATE 1/8/12: IN THE COMMENTS, SOMEONE HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE TRANSLATIONS AND IMAGES ARE A LITTLE DIFFERENT IN SOME PLACES COMPARED TO THE INDIVIDUAL COPIES YOU CAN PURCHASE FROM THE SAME PUBLISHER. I HAD NO IDEA, AND I APOLOGIZE IF THIS MISLED ANYONE!)--2. Three or four of my books had EXTREMELY tiny, extra pieces of the cover hanging off of the corners on the spines of the books. It's kind of annoying just knowing they're there, but I'm guessing it's normal for paperbacks. But believe me, it's probably not even worth mentioning.--3. The first 3 books have holographic covers, and the rest do not.--4. They're right-to-left style, to preserve the orientation of Arakawa's original artwork. I'm an American and have been reading left-to-right my entire life, but I, personally, haven't had an issue with this. I THOUGHT I would, but I simply haven't.II. A 2-Sided Poster--1. Both sides can be viewed on this product's homepage in the photo section.--2. It's folded in fourths, so there's creases. I have mine hung up though and it looks good to me. I barely-to-don't recognize the creases.--3. Approximately 10"w x 15"h.III. The Light Novel "The Ties that Bind"--1. I'm honestly not sure what this is. I did a little research and I guess it's a novelization of some of the manga chapters?... I really don't know. It IS a novel though, meaning pages full of paragraphs of words. There's only like 3 pages with actual pictures.IV. The Box Itself--1. Approximately the size of the poster, and 5 inches deep.--2. Has 2 shelves (one above the other) that house the books quite snugly. It's kinda hard to get them out sometimes.--3. Has a hinged "door" that protects the books from dust when closed, stays shut with small velcro circles on the right side, and has a handle on top making it much easier to carry around.--4. You can see the outside design of the box on this product's home page. The inside of the box is basically the same design as the back of the box.--5. My box arrived with a few small creases and dents in it, but I suppose this is practically unavoidable when shipping across country.--6. I'd have preferred a horizontally-orientated version of the box and its contents, but it's a very nice box nonetheless, I must say.Overall, this product is definitely well worth its price and worthy of being passed down the Armstrong line for generations!!!

First off, let me say I generally am not a fan of anime or manga and had purchased this book as a Christmas gift for my younger brother. After flipping through the second and getting caught up, I borrowed the first from said brother. The Fullmetal Alchemist anime (television) adaptations (there are two) are good, however they do not compare to the plot and depth of story in the manga. If you are manga fan (or even if you're not, like me) and are looking for a plot revolving around moral right and wrong, love of family, and the lengths we will go to in order to save them, then this is for you. I highly recommend this purchase, and sincerely hope you take the time to read this series some time. If nothing else, binge watch the anime(s) when looking for something different on Netflix :)Note: The "Brotherhood" adaptation is truer to the manga, I prefer the original adaptation.

I've been into Fullmetal Alchemist for as long as I've been into anime. If someone were to ask me what I feel is one of the best series of all time, my go to answer is ALWAYS Fullmetal Alchemist- and Hunter X Hunter- but that's besides the point.I think this series is something everyone should get to experience. It's always an absolute delight to return to and I still get emotional from thinking about it, even after over half a decade after first witnessing the series.Now I've had my eyes on this box set for quite sometime. Maybe since 2013? It was my first time ever seeing a manga box set and it blew my younger mind away. The idea of just buying an entire series in one package hadn't occurred to me. Of course I wasn't making any money back then so I had to wait.Six years later and after some heavy consideration, I decided to go ahead and buy this box set. The shipping was extremely quick. It came in a relatively big box, much bigger than the box set itself. I was surprised to see that it wasn't damaged around the edges to be quite honest. Once I opened it, I immediately went to check out the poster that came along with it. I don't have it shown in any of my pictures but it's very cute and I'd like to hang it on my wall the next chance I get. The light novel is a nice addition, even if it is there just fill in that extra space. I'll have to read it at some point for sure.The volumes themselves are absolutely beautiful. The manga collector side of my brain basically had an orgasm because there's nothing better than seeing an entire series lined up like this. The volumes didn't have any damage whatsoever and were in amazing quality. I took each of them out to admire the covers and they all looked great.Now I haven't actually read all of Fullmetal Alchemist but I've seen both the 2003 anime and Brotherhood. I've been reading the series with busted up volumes from the library where the pages are falling out. Now that I have this box set though, it'll make reading the rest of the series a breeze.All in all, a wonderful purchase. I would 100% do it again, it is worth every penny if you are a Fullmetal Alchemist fan and wish to read the manga- or y'know just have every volume physically for the cheapest price possible.

Under Fire does an excellent job of showing the situation from the ground. Suddenly it doesn't matter that you're representing a super power, what matters is where you are and where you can get help. Often, that help is too far away to make much difference in the situation and you have to depend on the capabilities you have available. The author did an excellent job of showing the difficulties, especially when so much of our security depended on people that couldn't be depended on.Should be on the required reading list for all members of congress.

Very well done investigative piece of work. The investigation performed by Mr. Burton and his colleague, through their unclassified sources allowed this book to read well and hold my interest. For me it confirmed much of what 13 Hours in Benghazi author, Mr. Zuckoff, wrote. Both books are worth a read, but remember, Mr. Burton wrote an investigative piece that is written well enough to hold interest.

The author spend a lot on details of how dangerous Benghazi is on normal day. Then leads into the attack, and the job of DS, and DSCC required the kind of bravery and skill was given W/O mumbling, sticking their train and performing as good as any could expect. It heart wrenching to feel dedication those had men for the Diplomat as they heroically went in to the building over and over again. In end it is obvious they a lot of military specialist, and some heavy ordinance and escape plan if needed. All in all I knew a lot more about the Benghazi tragedy after reading the book.

This book will explain what difference it makes and it will give the reader information that is not forthcoming by the coverup from Obama's Administration. A stimulating read but not a lot that has not been in mainstream media and, for me, too much repetitive jargon. Certainly enough information to keep one upset about the inexcusable mistakes that allowed it to occur.

Everyone should read this book. It starts out a little boring,( because it gives you a little history of Benghazi) but gets pretty good after that. You will see that the 60 min special on Benghazi was pretty accurate, despite what the gov is trying to spin.

This publication is a joke. Someone downloaded Kafka's (out of copyright) work, put it into Microsoft Word - chose the smallest, most obnoxious sans serif font to save paper and sold it through Amazon. It's completely illegible. Pay a little more for a legitimate copy and enjoy this great work.

Kafka's The Trial is a tough book to read, perhaps because so much of what he wrote about seems plausible today. Secret decisions in which the primary person is not informed (think about some of the digital monitoring that goes on), trials that are unaccessible, and the insidious effect on one's social circles where the shadow of a trial quickly becomes known among many, but there is no recourse or ability to deny anything. And yet, with a modern eye, I also saw so many instances of Josef K's own arrogance and blindness to his own shortcomings. He makes speeches when he might have the chance to listen. He sexually assaults (kissing her extensively without her permission) a young woman in the same boarding house and then is clueless about why she's avoiding him. And when the two officers who originally arrested him are being beaten in a room in his Bank building, he does not try to assist them by calling to someone else but appears to simply hope that they are not heard by anyone else in the building. And yet his reactions are understandable, and perhaps quite typical even today of how someone might act. It's a scary book, not because of any fantastic monsters, but because of the way a government with no accountability can corrupt all citizens under fear and secrecy.

This book is an abrupt short story that is engaging from start to finish. The story is surreal yet the main character Gregor is completely relatable. The story starts out as funny, but grows sadder and sadder until the ending, which admittedly is strange enough to be the ending of a Sundance film. Honestly, if this book had come out a few years later it could've been an artistic surrealist cartoon. This is one of those speculative frictions that doesn't actually explain why something is happening, only that it is. Franz Kafka explains how turning into a roach would affect Gregor in a way that is understandable, sympathetic, yet well researched. It feels like the story is an allegory for something, yet is so dedicated to its premise that it's difficult to say what the allegory is. Overall, I would recommend this story for those that like the modern abrupt method of storytelling, who like strangeness, and who like to cry. Seriously, this one is depressing despite it's moments of levity.

This is a well-translated, very portable version of a truly extraordinary book. If you're looking for the most affordable version of The Metamorphosis, this is the best fit I've found! It's clear and engaging, and has slightly simpler vocabulary than many. This means it would be great for a classroom setting or as a gift for a younger reader, a current English learner, or anyone who doesn't enjoy being sent to the dictionary when they're trying to enjoy a book. The story itself is fresh as ever--while this isn't personally my favorite of Kafka's work, I love the absurdism and the economy of language that he employs within it! I was very pleased with the binding quality as well, and there are several amusing graphics inside the book that made it just that bit more fun to read. The biggest selling point for me personally was the size-- I'm a pack rat, so it is often difficult to find books that will fit wherever I need them to. This has made a wonderful addition to my commute this week, for the price of a Starbucks order or a single decent sock. You can't go wrong!

This was a very unique read! I enjoyed it very much. I decided to actually listen to the audio version after I read it, just to see if I would “rethink” my opinions and thoughts about the book. Then, I was so intrigued, I did some internet searches and started reading about other interpretations readers have made. I couldn’t get enough, I even went so far as to YouTube videos and feature length films dedicated to this short tale! Those proved to be quite interesting and entertaining. I would definitely recommend this book!

Received a bootlegged copy of the book. Literally copied from a free digital version. It even has the pages claiming it is a free digital book printed and included in the back.Aside from that, the print is so small, even a magnifying glass would not make one capable of reading the poorly printed words.

Kind of confusing. If not for the fact of seeing a picture of the "bug" that Gregor had become, I don't think I could've pictured it by the description given in the story. Also, as said by others, it is never revealed why this person changed. Would a mother really give up on her son as such in the book? I don't think so. I only read as curiosity got the better of me. That & the fact it was very short. Might make a good "Twilight Zone" type of movie. (Unless it is already, & I didn't know it.) Anyway, 3 stars is the best I can do.

The Metamorphosis is one of those books that you either read in high school or you never read at all. I heard so many people talking about The Metamorphosis and I thought that I wouldn't ever read the book and all of the puns, allusions and themes discussed between friends would just go over my head for the rest of my life. I finally decided to give the book a shot. I was quite surprised by how short the book is, and yet how relateable it is to my current life expectations and experience. The Metamorphosis is a book I would suggest to everyone to read. As I make my way from college to "being an adult" the concept discussed in the first part of the book I found to be the most relevant. Kafka discusses having a job and the expectations of having a job. That one can waste away their life at a company (or with people) that do not value you as a human being can do significant harm to your being. Anyways, great book, I'm happy I decided to read it. Also to not, I really enjoyed the print size and font of the book.

This is a very good read. The author presents his arguments through a narrative of public meetings in which audience members are encouraged to ask any pertinent questions regarding Biblical prophecy and the validity of the Bible. Various questions are posed, and scriptural and historical answers given. It is an excellent presentation of a very intriguing subject.

A disclaimer before I get started: I know Richard McAfee personally, he's been my coach for about 16 months. In that time he's turned me from a complete beginner into an 1800 player. More important than rating points though, coach has given me a lifelong love for the elegant sport of pong. The man has spent over 40 years playing with and coaching elite players around the globe. In talking to him and reading this book one gets the sense that he's broken down and analyzed every stroke he's seen in that time.That attention to detail and nuance have made this book an excellent resource for the aspiring pong player. Make no mistake: table tennis is not an easy sport, to master the intricacies of the various strokes takes dedication and hours of practice. The instructions and diagrams in the book clearly illustrate the mechanics of each stroke, and the drills get you on your way to mastering them. I've found these drills invaluable for improving me serve and backhand.If you don't live in Denver and can't get personal coaching from McAfee this book will go a long way towards improving your game.

I refer to this book all the time while I prepare for teaching my students. The book is very easy to read and has plenty of pictures and diagrams to visually explain the concepts. This is the only accessible Table Tennis book I've seen that breaks down the steps that lead to a better performance.

I play competitive table tennis at a club in town. I'm about 1250 rated, but I'm a glutton for information and I digest stuff quickly. I really liked his teaching on one of the left sidespin serves and I learned how to (properly) do a flip off the short bounce serve. I learned some basic steps for footwork. Some of the things I knew, but never really consciously thought about it. My friend who is about 1400 commented in amazement, "You learned how to do that since last week just by reading this book! Wow!" This book has several good drills and even though it's not too advanced it really teaches you how to actually master the basics. No kidding! I liked this book alot and definitely think it's worth it no matter how advanced you are.

This book gives a comprehensive treatment on the technical aspects of the game. For each new technique it teaches there are exercise(s) which help you master the technique. Reading through this book and doing those exercises have definitely improved my game greatly. It has definitely taken me a few steps closer to success!This book caters to both penhold and handshake users. There are more illustrations and explanations for handshake though (well look at the cover), this slight bias did not matter for me that much as most of the underlying mechanics to the various strokes like the loop are similar between PH and SH. I got my coach to fill in on some of the finer details concerning PH strokes.Although I feel that the best way to improve is definitely to find a good coach, this book will make a great suppliment training and practice guide in between coaching sessions.

I am a member of a small table tennis club (15 or less members), and everyone who has read this (we have shared it) has learned something from the book. It is a well organized, practical, and as much as is possible to write about a visual sport, helpful. The guy obviously knows how to coach; if I could live in Denver, I would definitely try to get some coaching time in from him. But I digress, back to the book, he has numerous useful photos showing various skills and how to practice certain drills to make you more proficient. All of our group loves his picture on serves (it shows a wheel and the angle of the paddle coming up from the wheel to give the proper angle for the paddle to come up to make contact with the ball. You have to see it to understand it. Anyway, it's a good book, well worth the money if you are in the lower or middle range of table tennis skills.

This is like attending a TT lesson. Well written with lots of illustrations.

It is a good comprehensive text book for novice and intermediate players with many pictures of examples and drills. I would highly recommend.

Pretty detailed. Would be awesome if the book mentioned where the pictured training aids came from.

Bryanna Plog is an inspiring writer and thinker. She writes sensitively about her experiences in other cultures and adventures as (mostly) a young woman on her own exploring the world. She is not a tourist, but a traveler and world citizen. She does a remarkable job of sharing her insights gained from being on the ground, immersed in the local cultures she visits, trying new activities, foods, and cultural practices. She ponders the effects of her presence on those around her, and tries to minimize negative impacts of her visits. And she will sometimes go to remarkable lengths to experience the local culture through getting to know individuals as people wherever she goes. An easy read that sets one's mind spinning with ideas and reflection on one's role in the world. Also filled with humorous insights and great character vignettes.

Bryanna shares her travels in many intriguing places across the globe along with advice for would be travelers. Many of the places she visits are unusual and she tells how to get a native's insights into these fascinating places.

A very fun and enjoyable read. The author is gifted at showing you the places she has been as seen through her eyes. Thankfully, she leaves the oh so serious business of travel writing to others and just lets her own personality shine through her writing. The book pokes gentle fun at some formal lists of do's and don'ts given as travel advice while showcasing her experiences as a traveler. Her viewpoint is somewhat different than that of the typical American traveler, and she is to be commended for going her own way.Highly recommended.

It was interesting as far as it went.

Recommended summer reading. You don't have to be a world traveler to appreciate the entertaining and descriptive stories the author gifts us with. We should be so fortunate to have half as many experiences as shared here! Stories gained and lessons earned (and learned) through travel are worthy as applied life lessons and shouldn't be earmarked as quaint anecdotes to tell to pass the time. This book leads us through a fun collection of short tales that ask: How has the road you have traveled affect the path you are yet to find?

I enjoyed reading about the author's various travel experiences. Having traveled to some of the same countries, I could definitely identify with her stories. Her humor, descriptive scenes and travel advice allowed me to also "experience" those places that I have not yet visited. Great read!

I read this book during some journeys of my own and it made a great traveling companion. Full of short, fun stories from adventures around the world, Make Sure You Have a Map makes you smile and want to get out and see more of the world.
